Powderriffic!

If you are looking for lots of resort amenities, look elsewhere. Powder King is modest in the sense of accommodations, food and shopping but makes up for that and wayyyyyyyyy more in snow. With a small three person chair and a t-bar to get you to the top, Powder King is not the biggest mountain around, but if you can stay on the t-bar while struggling to stay afloat trough 30cm of powder you may have a chance here. It is a two hour drive north of Prince George BC, so since you are going out of your way to get there, enjoy the views of from the top (since the base of the mountain is at the top of the Pine Pass) and stay for more than just a weekend. Powder King boasts and average of 1250cm of snow per year and very little traffic due to it's remote location. If you are looking for fresh lines and no crowds you can get them here. -Tiff Yaxley (Backside Guide)

There Is Nothing Like It!

Not many people can say they grew up riding Powder King, and I consider it a privilege. Tucked away in the Pine Pass, this mountain gets way more snow than any other mountain in the Rockies. It is essentially backcountry skiing with the convenience of a chairlift, and there's nothing quite like grabbing your sleeping bag and heading off to the Chateau Atco for the weekend. Most days are powder days, and the lifty's spend more time cleaning fresh pow off the lift since the last time it came around than they do helping you onto the chair. It doesn't take much more than a five minute traverse from the top of the T-bar to find a clearing to make yourself a kicker in, and you'll be hucking into fresh powder with your friends all day (sticking the landing is not required in 6 feet of fresh).  The best part is not many people have heard or believe the legend of PK, so you likely won't see too many other adventurous souls on the mountain while you're doing this. It is not a big hill, but it can take you all day to explore four different lines down the mountain, and I can guarantee you won't be ready to head in for Apres by the time the lift shuts down. - JANA R (Backside Guide)
